Customer Review: A lemon, but can't make a pie...

Polder thermometers have a solid reputation and I've used other models with success. However, this unit failed on first use. As it cooled after one session in a 350 degree oven, the gasket between the glass and the metal popped out of its slot into the main chamber of the thermometer, blocking the dial. Since this may simply be a manufacturing defect rather than a design flaw (and since the unit functioned perfectly before it broke), I'll wait to see how the replacement performs before condemning ALL Polder oven thermometers.
